Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

 What is virtual reality?

  • It’s a technology that makes you seem to be immersed in a computer-generated world. It’s like living inside a really realistic video game. You’re free to look and move around

How does it work?

  • You put on what looks very much like a ski-mask, which is called the HTC Vive and inside there is a screen. The Vive knows how your head is turned, so if you turn left, it will let you look at what’s to your left in that virtual world

Is it harmful to the eyes/health?

  • It’s no more harmful to your eyes than looking at your smartphone screen. Although since you can’t see the real world when you’re wearing the Vive, there is a risk that you might bump into stuff that’s close to you if you’re not careful

Are there any side effects?

  • Some people can get motion sick from when they are moving around in virtual reality. People usually acclimatise to it after a few times though,  and most people don’t ever get motion sick

What are the uses of virtual reality?

  • Right now it’s mostly entertainment, like watching a movie and feeling like you’re in a huge movie theatre, or playing video games. But, a lot of imaginative uses are being developed, like being able to look around in a house you’re interested in buying without actually going there

How much does it cost to play?

  • $25 per hour per machine
  • $15 per ½ hour per machine

What if I want to stay longer than the booked period?

  • If there is no one else booked after you, you are free to play on after you have paid for the extra time

Is there an age limit?

  • We recommend players be at least 12 years old due to the complexity of a lot of the games. If you are under the age of 12 you need to be accompanied by an adult

Is there anything I need to bring to play?

  • Socks must be worn in the play area
  • A signed waiver

Is the equipment clean?

  • Of course, the headsets, headphones, and controllers are cleaned after every use with antibacterial wipes to prevent the spread of germs and to keep everything clean for everyone to use. Socks must be worn while in the play area, and hand sanitizer is used before game play starts
